Charlotte Higgins
Charlotte Higgins approaches classical culture through journalism, criticism and narrative nonfiction. Higgins serves as chief culture writer for the Guardian, covering visual art, museums, music and the ancient world. Greek Myths: A New Retelling reorganises familiar stories around female figures who are imagined weaving scenes into textiles. Chris Ofili created the drawings for the book, while Higgins wrote the retelling. Earlier books by Higgins include Under Another Sky, a journey through Roman Britain, and Red Thread, which follows the cultural afterlife of the labyrinth. Higgins has received the Classical Association Prize and is a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, recognition tied to her public writing about classical history and culture.
