Clare Swatman

Clare Swatman writes contemporary fiction about disrupted lives, family secrets, and support that appears when isolation becomes untenable. The World Outside My Window centers on Laura, who has remained inside her house after a trauma and depends on her husband Jim and friend Debbie. When Jim disappears, finding him requires Laura to engage with Willow Crescent and the neighbors she previously watched from a distance. Boldwood Books published the novel in 2023 as an emotional story with a mystery shaped by concealed truths. Swatman makes the street more than background: Arthur, Carol, Marjorie, Faye, Sonja, and Ben gradually turn an overlooked neighborhood into a network of practical help. The World Outside My Window pairs its search plot with Laura's quieter movement from spectatorship toward participation. Tension arises from Jim's absence and from her decision about whether life beyond the glass can become hers again.
