Dan Price has called himself a hobo artist, and for more than twenty years he produced Moonlight Chronicles, a hand-drawn zine that ran to seventy-seven issues, photocopied and stapled at about four inches by five and a half. Each one is pen sketches, handwritten text and notes from wherever he had been: New York alleyways, a five-day walk in Hell's Canyon, the Sierras behind John Muir. He began keeping illustrated journals in 1992 and has lived for years at Joseph in north-eastern Oregon, for a time in a small shelter he dug into a meadow. Ten Speed Press gathered the zines as The Moonlight Chronicles: A Wandering Artist's Journal in 2000. He is not the Dan Price who ran the Seattle payments company Gravity.
