Dani Redd
Dani Redd builds fiction from travel, place, and her experience across editing and travel writing. The Arctic Curry Club, her debut novel, was published by Avon in 2021. It follows Maya, who leaves Britain for the Arctic with her boyfriend and struggles with isolation, anxiety, and gaps in her memory. A return to Bangalore and her late mother's recipes begins to reconnect food with family history, giving the novel two sharply contrasting settings. Redd has an MA and a PhD in creative writing, and the story grew partly from her own time in India and in Spitsbergen. The Arctic Curry Club combines women's fiction, romance, travel, and food-centered family drama without reducing cooking to decoration. Recipes and remembered flavors become a way for Maya to investigate her inheritance and decide what kind of life she wants. The book established Redd's interest in displacement, belonging, and the emotional knowledge carried through everyday meals.
