📚 1 Book ✍️ Computer Science 📄 PDF & EPUB

In April 1981 IBM assigned David Both to write the education material for a machine it had not yet announced, the original IBM PC, developed at its Boca Raton site in Florida. He stayed twenty-one years with IBM, the last eight as lead support for OS/2, and afterwards worked at MCI WorldCom, at Cisco and for North Carolina's state government. He has taught RHCE classes for Red Hat and now trains, speaks and writes on Linux and open source topics from Raleigh, North Carolina. Using and Administering Linux: Volume 1, subtitled Zero to SysAdmin: Getting Started, came from Apress in 2019 as the opening part of a three volume self-study course, with Volume 2 on advanced topics and Volume 3 on network services. The course is built around a small virtual network the reader constructs and then experiments on, so the exercises are done on live systems rather than read about. Both also wrote The Linux Philosophy for SysAdmins and, with Cyndi Bulka, Linux for Small Business Owners, and writes for Opensource.com, having also appeared in Linux Magazine, Linux Journal and OS/2 Magazine.
