E. Pauline Johnson is a Canadian poet, author, and performer who is also known by her Mohawk stage name Tekahionwake. She gained popularity in the late nineteenth and early 20th centuries. She was a milestone figure in Canadian literature and indigenous women's writing. She was the only child of a hereditary Mohawk Chief father and an English immigrant mother. Some of the notable literary works are The White Wampum (1895), Canadian Born (1903), Flint and Feather (1912), Legends of Vancouver (1911), The Shagganappi (1913), and The Moccasin Maker (1913).
