Einzlkind is the pseudonym of an anonymous German-language novelist known for sardonic humor, eccentric protagonists, and philosophical digressions. Billy, published by Insel Verlag in 2015, was the writer's third novel after Harold and Gretchen. Its Scottish narrator travels toward Las Vegas while reflecting on music, family influence, and the moral theories he has inherited. Reviews emphasized the book's road-novel movement, dark comedy, and repeated arguments about individual judgment. The author's identity remains deliberately undisclosed, leaving the published work itself to define the name instead of personal history. Harold first attracted attention in 2010, and Gretchen followed in 2013; both established the comic voice that Billy develops in a different setting. A later novel, Minsky, appeared in 2021 through Edition Tiamat. Billy thus sits within a compact, recognizable bibliography whose characters test grand ideas against unruly habits, private loyalties, and the absurdities of everyday life.
