Ellis Summers

Ellis Summers writes dramatic fiction that places unusual lives and difficult choices inside romance, mystery, and suspense. Rescuing Freedom is a romantic suspense novel about Freesia Hollister, a woman who hides a missing soldier on her remote Colorado property while federal officials search for him. The soldier has uncovered military wrongdoing, and Freesia’s attempt to protect him turns questions of loyalty and justice into immediate personal danger. Published in 2022, the book combines a wilderness setting, a veteran-centered mystery, and a relationship developing under pursuit. Summers’s wider catalogue includes Hunting for Blue, Complicated Strangers, Granted, and Surf & Tour, moving between romantic suspense and relationship-focused drama. Her author site describes a continuing interest in people whose circumstances fall outside ordinary expectations, while the independent work record identifies Rescuing Freedom across romance, mystery, and thriller categories. That combination defines the novel’s approach: emotional attachment develops alongside the effort to clear a fugitive soldier, exposing how official power, family obligations, and personal courage can collide.
