Felix Blackwell
Stolen Tongues began as a serialised story posted to an online horror forum, about a couple in a remote Colorado cabin hearing something outside imitating their voices badly.
Blackwell built it from Native folklore about creatures that mimic, and the escalation works because the imitation gets better rather than louder.
He is a pen name and keeps his identity quiet. The book was later published properly and remains one of the more successful examples of internet horror surviving the move to print, where most of that material collapses.
