Femi Kayode
Kayode trained as a clinical psychologist, spent about twenty years in advertising across Nigeria and southern Africa, and then took a creative writing degree in England in his fifties. Lightseekers sends an investigative psychologist to a university town in the Niger Delta to work out why a crowd killed three students, and it is built on the real killing of four undergraduates at Port Harcourt in 2012, which bystanders filmed on their phones. The question the book asks is not who did it, since everybody saw, but what makes a crowd of ordinary people do it. It won the Little, Brown crime fiction award.
