Fran Baker

Fran Baker writes American romance spanning contemporary relationships and carefully researched historical settings. San Antonio Rose, originally associated with the Loveswept line, returns Rafe Martinez to a Texas ranch and the woman he left years earlier. Their reunion reveals that Jeanne Crane’s son is also his, turning an old separation into a story about responsibility, memory, and possible reconciliation. The Talk of the Town shifts to a small Missouri community in 1933, where Roxie Mitchell gives former prisoner Luke Bauer a job despite local suspicion. Baker drew period detail for that Depression-era novel from diaries her mother began keeping in 1933. She planned several books named after popular songs, beginning with this one. Baker has written more than fourteen novels, including four published under the Loveswept imprint, as well as articles and reviews. In 1998 she founded Delphi Books, a small press. These two novels show her interest in second chances tested by family history and the judgment of close communities.
