Genevieve Gornichec
The Witch's Heart retells Norse myth from the side nobody asks: Angrboda, the giantess who bore Loki three children, a wolf, a serpent and the girl who rules the dead, and who watched all three taken from her. Gornichec studied history at Ohio State with the Viking material as her focus, and the novel stays close to the sources while giving them a domestic centre. The Weaver and the Witch Queen followed, set in tenth-century Norway around two women who appear in the sagas.
