Ginny Myers Sain
Ginny Myers Sain spent about twenty years directing and teaching theatre for high school students, and has said that loving that age group decided who she would write for. She spent her childhood in a rural Oklahoma town of some three thousand people, the eldest of three, in a family of writers she did not immediately join: her mother has twenty published novels and her father wrote poetry and non-fiction. Her first book, Dark and Shallow Lies, appeared in 2021 and is set in La Cachette, a bayou village in Louisiana that calls itself the psychic capital of the world. Seventeen-year-old Grey comes back for the summer six months after her closest friend Elora vanished, and everyone she has known since childhood is holding something back. Sain took the geography from an old Louisiana settlement built for Mississippi river pilots.
