Gloria Anzaldua

Gloria Anzaldua developed a body of writing that joins Chicana and feminist theory with philosophy, spirituality, art, and personal narrative. Light in the Dark/Luz en lo Oscuro gathers work from the final decade of her life and was edited after her death by AnaLouise Keating. Duke University Press published the volume in 2015 within its Latin America Otherwise series. Its essays extend Anzaldua's thinking about identity, knowledge, creativity, and social change, treating lived experience as part of intellectual inquiry rather than as background to it. Keating's editorial role also places the book within a longer scholarly effort to preserve and interpret Anzaldua's unfinished manuscripts. The result is both a late statement of the author's ideas and a carefully assembled continuation of her influence across American studies, philosophy, and Chicanx and Latinx studies.
