Harley Ness

Harley Ness builds Australian fantasy romance around nature, intuition, and difficult choices. Her debut, Beneath the Elven Moon, opens the Horizon series. The novel follows Thea Lane after her father's death, when her bond with longtime friend Dean Coady becomes complicated by the arrival of Arlen Castien and the discovery of a hidden Elven world. Thea's growing spiritual gifts, a threatened Elven bloodline, and a love triangle shape a low-magic urban fantasy concerned with grief and chosen connection. Ness places the natural world close to the emotional one: elves sense the earth and human blood, while Thea must decide whether fate has overridden her own judgment. Beneath the Elven Moon was published in 2023 and is planned as the first of three Horizon books. Its combination of paranormal mystery and gradual romance reflects Ness's focus on people learning to trust both unfamiliar worlds and their own perceptions.
