Herbert Adams Gibbons built his career as an American journalist, foreign correspondent, and writer on international affairs. Great Britain in Egypt examines British rule and Egyptian nationalism in the postwar political setting. The little children of the Luxembourg is a 1916 portrait of children at play in Paris's Luxembourg Garden, illustrated with twenty-four photographs by Harry B. Lachman. Princeton's archival description traces Gibbons from missionary work in Turkey to reporting across Greece, Spain, the Near East, Europe, Asia, and Africa. It also records his teaching at Robert College in Istanbul and his service with the American Expeditionary Forces in France.
