Author: Hulbert Footner
Hulbert Footner (1879–1944) was a Canadian-born, largely self-taught writer, born in Hamilton, Ontario, who moved to New York as a young man and worked in journalism and theatre before turning to fiction. His early books were wilderness adventure stories drawn from his own long canoe travels across the Canadian Northwest, beginning with Two on the Trail in 1911. He later became known for detective and mystery fiction, including the popular series featuring the woman investigator Madame Rosika Storey, and produced dozens of novels over his career. He died of a heart attack in 1944 at the age of 65.
