It's One of Us, published in 2023, begins with a couple who cannot carry a pregnancy to term. Olivia Bender designs interiors, her husband Park ghostwrites other people's books, and the police arrive with DNA taken from a body in a lake that names Park as the biological father of the man who left it there. He donated to a sperm bank at college and has at least twenty-eight children. J.T. Ellison, who wrote it, held a presidential appointment in Washington and later analysed finances for defence contractors; a back injury during her Nashville years and a run of John Sandford novels sent her to crime fiction instead. She has written more than thirty books, among them the Taylor Jackson series about a Nashville homicide lieutenant, the Samantha Owens spin-off, and the A Brit in the FBI novels written with Catherine Coulter. Urban fantasy goes out under the name Joss Walker. She co-hosts the Nashville Public Television books programme A Word on Words, an Emmy winner.
