Jamie Beck

Jamie Beck creates contemporary relationship novels about people tested by public pressure, family ties, and difficult transitions. The Wonder of Now is the third Sanctuary Sound story, following The Memory of You and The Promise of Us. Published in 2019, it centers on Peyton Prescott as she travels to promote a memoir and faces the personal consequences of turning a painful period into a public account. Her editor’s brother, Mitch Mathis, accompanies the tour, bringing a wary professional presence into Peyton’s effort to rebuild confidence. This installment returns to the sequence’s Connecticut community. Recurring friendships connect separate stories of recovery and renewed direction, while the tour gives Peyton’s chapter a wider geographical movement. The Wonder of Now sets her outward obligations beside her inward uncertainty, using the tension between public narrative and private experience to develop both her relationship with Mitch and her changing view of what comes next. Its place after the first two novels also lets familiar friendships carry continuity into a more mobile story.
