Joanna Bolouri
Joanna Bolouri is a Glasgow novelist and comedy writer whose romantic fiction combines sharp dialogue with the awkwardness of changing relationships. She worked in sales before beginning to write professionally at thirty, and a BBC comedy-script competition led to work with performers and scriptwriters across Britain. Driving Home for Christmas, published by Quercus in 2022, follows Kate and Ed as their annual holiday drive begins just after a major argument threatens their long relationship. They still face three family celebrations together, turning a familiar seasonal trip into a test of honesty, habit, and expectations. Bolouri also wrote The List, I Followed the Rules, Relight My Fire, and All I Want for Christmas. Across these novels, humor grows from recognizably messy decisions rather than from detached jokes. Driving Home for Christmas uses the confined space of a car and competing family rituals to show how affection can survive embarrassment, resentment, and unwelcome truths.
