Kristy Woodson Harvey
Kristy Woodson Harvey writes Southern-set fiction about women negotiating family inheritance, friendship, and the expectations attached to home. The Wedding Veil links four women through an heirloom and a speculative connection to the Vanderbilt family. In the present, Julia Baxter leaves her wedding and travels to the Virgin Islands, while her grandmother Babs considers a new life after bereavement. In 1914 Asheville, Edith Vanderbilt works to preserve Biltmore Estate and prepare her daughter Cornelia for responsibilities that may conflict with Cornelia's own ambitions. The first Gallery Books edition appeared during 2022; a trade paperback arrived in March 2023. Harvey is also the author of the Peachtree Bluff series and a co-creator of the Friends & Fiction program with fellow novelists. By alternating between contemporary decisions and historical pressures, The Wedding Veil turns a family object into a way of asking how women preserve a legacy without allowing it to dictate every choice they make.
