Lacy Williams

Lacy Williams creates contemporary and historical romances centered on community, practical kindness, and characters whose existing friendships acquire new meaning. Must Love Dogs opens the Sweetheart Shorts series with Micah and Charlotte, longtime acquaintances from the dog park. When Charlotte asks Micah to pose as her boyfriend for a family occasion, the arrangement gives him an unexpected chance to reveal feelings he has kept private. Goodreads identifies the novella as the first Sweetheart Shorts title with first publication in 2022. Independent author bibliographies place it among Williams’s extensive catalogue of compact romances and longer connected series. The dog-park friendship matters because the couple already knows how the other behaves in ordinary life before the pretend date changes the terms between them. Williams uses the family restaurant gathering as a focused social test rather than stretching the misunderstanding across a large plot. Must Love Dogs therefore offers a concise friends-to-lovers story built from familiarity, generosity, and one risky performance that makes honest conversation increasingly difficult to avoid.
