Liz Nugent is an Irish crime writer known for psychological suspense built around damaged families and competing accounts of the truth. Little Cruelties is the North American title of the novel published in Ireland and Britain as Our Little Cruelties. Told through the perspectives of brothers William, Brian, and Luke Drumm, it begins with all three at a funeral while only two remain alive. Scout Press published the North American edition, and Nugent's own account places it after Unravelling Oliver, Lying in Wait, and Skin Deep. The shifting viewpoints let the brothers' rivalries and memories expose how the same family history can be understood in sharply different ways.
