Eleven years of reporting for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution ended in 1991, when Kathy Hogan Trocheck left the paper to write fiction. Born in Tampa in 1954 and a journalism graduate of the University of Georgia, she published ten mysteries under her own name from 1992, among them the Callahan Garrity series, which closed with Irish Eyes in 2000. From 2002 she wrote as Mary Kay Andrews, borrowing the given names of her two children, and turned to comic Southern novels built around old houses, salvage, food and small coastal towns. Little Bitty Lies arrived in 2003 and Hissy Fit in 2004, while Deep Dish in 2008 set two Georgia television cooks against each other. The later titles here run from Christmas Bliss in 2013 and Save the Date in 2014 through The Weekenders in 2016, The High Tide Club in 2018 and The Homewreckers in 2022. She lives in Atlanta and has restored beach cottages on Tybee Island, one named after a place in her fiction, and rents them to visitors.
