Maya Motayne

Maya Motayne writes fantasy for teen readers, drawing inspiration from Latin American cultures. Nocturna is her debut novel and the first volume in the Forgery of Magic series, published in 2019 by Balzer + Bray in the United States and Hodder & Stoughton in Britain. Its central pair are Finn Voy, a thief able to alter her face, and Prince Alfehr, whose search for his missing brother leads him toward forbidden magic. Their meeting releases a destructive power into the kingdom of Castallan. The series continues in Oculta and concludes with Lucero, keeping Finn and Alfie's choices at the center of a broader struggle over magic, leadership, and peace.
