Nadine Brandes writes speculative fiction in which unusual powers carry personal and moral consequences. Wishtress centres its fantasy on wishes, curses and the price attached to getting what one wants; Thomas Nelson brought the novel out in 2022. Brandes also wrote the historical fantasies Fawkes and Romanov, alongside the Out of Time series. Her work therefore moves between imagined kingdoms, reworked moments from history and dystopian settings while keeping questions of choice and responsibility close to the characters.
