Nia Arthurs
Belize City has produced very few full-time novelists. Arthurs is among them, named by Writers' Circle founder Ix-Chel Poot as one of only three people writing full time in a country of half a million. She has published on Amazon since the beginning, and more than 150 self-published titles now carry her name there, most of them contemporary romance built around Black women and often set in Belize. The Right Sign (2023) puts a deaf protagonist opposite a hearing man, Richard Sullivan, and turns a small car accident into a fake courtship.
