Shaun Usher
1978
Shaun Usher is a writer and curator best known for bringing historically revealing correspondence to a broad readership. Penguin Books credits him as the compiler of Letters of Note: New York City, a 2021 collection of thirty letters connected to the five boroughs. Its correspondents range from George Washington and Kahlil Gibran to Audrey Hepburn and Martin Scorsese, allowing the city's civic, artistic, and social history to emerge through many voices. The volume belongs to the wider Letters of Note series that grew from Usher's archival project. His role is therefore editorial and contextual: he selects and arranges the letters rather than claiming authorship of them.
