Tom Lin
The Thousand Crimes of Ming Tsu sends a Chinese American assassin across the Nevada desert to take back the wife whose father had him seized and returned to the railroad gangs, and it hands the violence of the American West to the people that genre normally keeps in the background of a shot. Lin was born in China, came to the United States at four, and published this in his twenties. A blind prophet travels with Ming and can see what is coming, and the novel never once explains him.
