Yoshihito Isogawa designs mechanical models that explain engineering ideas through LEGO components. The Tokyo builder began writing computer manuals while studying at Tokyo University of Science and later established Isogawa Studio. The LEGO Technic Idea Book is a three-volume visual series comprising Simple Machines, Wheeled Wonders and Fantastic Contraptions. Color photographs show each model from several angles without relying on conventional step-by-step instructions. Readers can inspect gear systems, pulleys, linkages, steering mechanisms, vehicles and moving sculptures, then adapt the examples to their own constructions. Isogawa has produced further books on LEGO Mindstorms, Boost, Power Functions and Technic mechanisms. He has also led workshops and lectures at schools, science museums and educational events, using compact models to demonstrate motion and problem solving. His background in technical communication shapes the books’ image-led format. That work earned the grand prize at Japan’s Manual Contest twice, connecting his publishing career with a long practice of making complex systems understandable through precise visual examples.
