About this book

The book 'A Splendid Little War' is written by Derek Robinson. 'A Splendid Little War' is set in 1919. The story is about a volunteer R.A.F. squadron, flying Sopwith Camels, sent to Russia to fight the Bolshevik Reds. The British staff officer claimed it was a 'remarkable little war' but it turned out to be a brutal conflict marked by incompetence and corruption.

About the author

Derek Robinson

Robinson never flew a combat aircraft and researched everything, and the results are among the least romantic accounts of air war anybody has published. Goshawk Squadron reached the Booker shortlist in 1971 with a Royal Flying Corps commander who teaches his pilots to shoot enemies in the back because chivalry gets young men killed.
