About this book
A Viking’s Love, and Other Tales of the North, is by Ottilie A. Liljencrantz. The contents list names, among others, A Viking’s Love and The Hostage. One tale places King Olaf Haraldsson at an Easter feast with his men at the Royal Farm of Augvaldsnes, in Norway.
Thorer Sel is named as the bailiff who had the royal farm of Augvaldsnes under his management. Hallvard says that the thing which seems strangest to him he sees in Iceland, and Rodny asks what it is; he answers that it is that a maid like her should be unwed. Loki says, with a slim grimace, that such a lovely bride could not be allowed to travel without at least one serving-maid, and takes the dress of one of Freyja’s attendants and puts it on himself.
