About this book
An Outline of the History of Christian Thought Since Kant is by Edward Caldwell Moore. The book is dedicated to Adolf Harnack on his sixtieth birthday by his first American pupil. The prefatory note says it is hoped that this book may serve as an outline for a larger work, in which the Judgments here expressed may be supported in detail.
The prefatory note also says the author desires to treat the literature of the social question and of the modernist movement with a fulness which has not been possible within the limits of this sketch. The text says that, accurately speaking, there is no such thing as Christian philosophy, and that there are philosophies, good or bad, current or obsolete. The text says that in a general way it may be said that the course of opinion in these two generations, in reference to such questions as those of the dates and authorship of the New Testament writings, has been one of rather noteworthy retrogression from many of the Tübingen positions.
