About this book

Anarchism is by Dr. Paul Eltzbacher, translated by Steven T. Byington and dated 1908, with a dedication to the memory of the author's father, Dr. Salomon Eltzbacher. It opens with a translator's preface, a list of books referred to by abbreviated titles, and an introduction.

The contents give a chapter to the problem, one to law, the state and property, and then chapters on the teachings of individual thinkers, beginning with Godwin and Proudhon. Godwin's chapter has sections headed General, Basis, Law, The State, Property and Realization. One passage speaks of communes as groupings of like-minded persons joined by contracts, who take on duties toward society. Footnotes give page references to works by authors such as Lombroso and Garraud, and a Conclusion section appears near the end.
