Domesticated Animals is an 1895 book by Nathaniel Southgate Shaler (1841-1906), the influential Harvard geologist and long-serving dean of the Lawrence Scientific School. Shaler considers the animals humanity has tamed, the horse, dog, cattle, and the rest, and their role in the rise of civilisation, in the wide-ranging natural-philosophy style that made him a popular lecturer.
