About this book
Evidences of Christianity is by William Paley. An address in the text is directed to the Honourable and Right Reverend James York, D.D., Lord Bishop of Ely. The text proposes to inquire what might reasonably be expected by the preachers of Christianity when they turned themselves to the heathen public.
The text calls the religion exclusive, saying it denied without reserve the truth of every article of heathen mythology and accepted no compromise. The text quotes a question put to a Master about when these things shall be and what sign there will be, and an answer that begins with the words 'Take heed that ye be not deceived'. The text says we could imagine showers to fall just where and when they would do good, always seasonable and everywhere sufficient.
