Five Lectures on Reincarnation is a book by Swami Abhedananda. The contents list names, among others, Heredity and Reincarnation, Evolution and Reincarnation and Theory of Transmigration. Under the heading Reincarnation, the text says that the visible phenomena of the universe are bound by the universal law of cause and effect, and that the effect is visible or perceptible while the cause is invisible or imperceptible.
The text says that every action of body or mind, and every thought, becomes fine and is stored up in the form of a Samskâra or impression in our minds. The text says that Vâsanâs, or strong desires, are the manufacturers of new bodies. The text says that this law of Karma has now become a fundamental verity of modern science, and that scientists call it by different names, among them the law of causation, the law of compensation, the law of retribution and the law of action and reaction.
