About this book
The illustration list names palace courtyards, doorways and towers, including the courtyard of Palazzo Davanzati, the doorway of Palazzo Giugni and the tower of the Donati. The account attributes the Ciompi revolt directly to the tyranny of the Captains of the Guelph party and records the banishment of members of the Albizzi family. According to Passerini, the prosperity and greatness of Florence were due to the wise administration of Maso, Piero's nephew.
The discussion of a chapel asks whether decoration originally by Giotto could have suffered fire damage that left only the main lines of its compositions intact. The proposed reconciliation asks whether an inscription dated 1337 could refer to a restoration following the original design by a nameless pupil.
