About this book

Gather Together in My Name is a memoir by Maya Angelou, the second book in her series of seven autobiographies. It follows her life from the age of 17 to 19, as she tries to find her place in the world as a young mother, a black woman, and a creative person. The book covers her experiences in various jobs, relationships, and cities, and how she deals with racism, sexism, and violence. The title is taken from the Bible but also reflects her search for identity and community.
