David Grossman’s collection “Her Body Knows” consists of two novellas that explore the intricacies of interpersonal relationships and the potency of narrative. In “Frenzy,” a guy by the name of Shaul develops a paranoid belief that his wife is having an affair, leading his sister-in-law to share in his obsession.
The titular novella, “Her Body Knows,” tells the story of a successful but resentful novelist who visits her dying mother and narrates aloud what she imagines to be her mother’s affair with a teenage boy who is considerably younger. These tales delve into issues of obsession, betrayal, and the both potent and destructive qualities of narrative.
