Frances Cha’s “If I Had Your Face” is a fictional novel that takes place in contemporary Seoul, Korea. The book follows the lives of four young women who are trying to navigate a world defined by impossibly high standards of beauty, secret room salons catering to wealthy men, strict social hierarchies, and K-pop fan mania. The novel has been praised for its portrayal of female friendship and camaraderie against a backdrop of elitism, sexism, and the relentless quest for cosmetic perfection.
