About this book
John Marshall and the Constitution is by Edward S. Corwin and is described as a chronicle of the Supreme Court. The chapters include The Establishment Of The National Judiciary, Marshall’s Early Years, Jefferson’s War On The Judiciary, The Trial Of Aaron Burr and The Sanctity Of Contracts. The text sets out the words that the judicial power of the United States shall be vested in one Supreme Court, and in such inferior courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish.
The text says that the Virginia and Kentucky resolutions of 1798 and 1799 regard the Constitution as a compact of sovereign States and the National Government merely as their agent. The text says that rulings at Burr’s Trial are to be found in Robertson’s Reports of the Trials of Colonel Aaron Burr.
