About this book
Luca Signorelli is a study of the painter by Maud Cruttwell. The front matter lists it among a series of volumes on painters and sculptors, with the date December 1 beside this title.
One passage traces the influence on Signorelli of Antonio Pollaiuolo and Donatello, and quotes Vasari on Pollaiuolo's study of the human body. Another describes painted groups of figures on a roof, among them Martyrs, Virgins and Doctors of the Church, some shown in discussion. The closing pages are a catalogue of works listed by place, with dates, materials and measurements. One entry is a Madonna and Saints of 1508 under Milan, Brera, with its inscription noted.
