Mage of Merigor

“Merigor, the Mage” by Alison Naomi Holt is a magical and sorcerous coming-of-age story. Nathaniel Gauthier, the main character, is a young, scholarly mage who perishes while defending his king against a wraith. He is brought back to life a millennium after the legendary battle-magician Jancor died, to rescue a cruelly occupied kingdom.

Despite his training in academia and lack of combat experience, Nathaniel needs to step up and demonstrate that being a hero involves more than just being the strongest magician.
