“On the Heavens” is Aristotle’s chief cosmological treatise, written around 350 B.C.E. It is a significant work that outlines his astronomical theory and ideas on the workings of the terrestrial world. Aristotle claims that the heavenly bodies are made of an imperishable substance called aether, which allows for their eternal and perfect circular motion.
