One Thousand and One Initial Letters draws on the design work of Owen Jones (1809-1874), the Welsh architect and ornamentalist whose Grammar of Ornament was the most influential design sourcebook of the nineteenth century. Jones shaped the decoration of the Great Exhibition and Crystal Palace and championed the flat, geometric, color-true ornament that pointed toward modern design. This collection of decorative initial letters is a working pattern book in his celebrated manner.
