Over Prairie Trails

Frederick Philip Grove’s autobiographical nature sketches, “Over Prairie Trails,” chronicle his lonesome and frequently dangerous horse-drawn travels across thirty or so miles throughout the Manitoba countryside. He spent a difficult year away from his wife and child due to these travels. The book paints a realistic picture of a prairie landscape on the verge of modernity, ready to be permanently altered by emerging technologies.
