About this book
Panama to Patagonia is a work by Charles M. Pepper. A chapter headed Travel Hints says that to live as they live and to travel as they travel is about all there is to living and travelling in South America and on the Isthmus. The text says Colon has little that is typically and traditionally Spanish, because when the insurgents burned it in 1885 they left only a few brick and mortar buildings.
The text mentions a statue erected to William H. Aspinwall, John L. Stephens, and Henry Chauncey, associates in the building of the Panama Railroad. The text says that in the Province of Antofagasta are the two silver districts known as Caracoles and Inca Caracoles, and that the former is 110 miles from the coast. The contents list gives a chapter titled Arequipa and Lake Titicaca, among others, and names Capital of Southern Peru among its topics.
