About this book

David Drake's "Paying the Piper" is included in the Hammer's Slammers series. The narrative tracks Lt. Arne Huber and his mercenaries as they travel to the planet Plattner's World, which is experiencing a civil war. They battle street thugs, a hostile division of heavy tanks, and shady government officials. The complexity of loyalty when one's supporters turn out to be unworthy is examined in the book.
