The fictional work “Pleasure Bound: Ashore” was written by George Reginald “Reggie” Bacchus (1874–1945), an English writer well known for his sensual novels. Known for its racy and funny tone, this book, which was initially published in 1909, is a remarkable example of Edwardian erotica. In addition to writing uplifting articles for Christian journals in England, Bacchus was married to the actress Isa Bowman and was friends with Oscar Wilde.
